How does a tactile artist switch to a simple mouse?

I'm a very hands-on person, especially in my art. I'm not afraid to get dirty. My favorite art is ceramics;being able to push the clay hard enough to go where I want it to, but always feeling it push back. But when my friends all signed up for graphic design, I of course joined them. It was fun, learning how to manipulate photographs, changing the levels, covering up that blemish from homecoming. Yet... there was something quite frustrating about it, I couldn't put my hands around it. Literally. I couldn't physically push my artwork.
